Some customers have used the scrapbook, at our suggestion, to save items back to their Traffic Graphics folders, for instance special signs, and full lane closures. In the last few days, it has been brought to our attention that there are some problems with doing this.
Please do not confuse the terms Scrapbook and Scrap
Scrapbook is a docker used within CorelDRAW to easily import items onto your drawing page. Tools – Scrapbook – Browse – Navigate to Traffic Graphics Folder. We encourage you to use this method to navigate to files and drag them onto your drawing screen.
Scrap is the file name of a temporary image. Scarps are made by selecting an image on your drawing screen and dragging back to a folder in the Scrapbook docker. The file is named Scarp unless you change the file name. The Scarp files are meant to be temporary files only. Scrap files have a .scr file extension and Corel files have a .cdr extension.
We are asking that you do not add scrap items into your Traffic Graphics folders by simply clicking and dragging them into the scrapbook. There is another method to use for saving your special signs. Follow the procedure listed below.
If you have used this method in the past, we are strongly recommending you take the time to open each of these files and perform a File Save As – Selected Only and save them to a new folder and then delete the scrap file from your computer. For all new signs and lane closures, you want to save, follow the same procedure below.
Open CorelDRAW
From the Scrapbook – navigate to where the Scrap Files are located
Left Click – Hold and drag the item onto the drawing screen
Click on Arrange – Align and Distribute – Center to Page
Make sure the item is selected (the black handles will encompass the selection)
From the Menu bar click on File – Save As
From the dialog box, navigate to the location you want to save this file
Name the file (do not click save yet)
Click on the box Selected only – you may need click on the Options button to reveal this box
Click on Save
Repeat this process for all your Scrap files.
Then delete the scrap files
Please make sure the folders that contain your special signs, devices, roadways, complete drawings are backed up on a regular basis in case of a computer crash or the IT department updates your computer and reinstalls your software programs, overwriting all your hard work. Click Here
